| 545 | 0 | |a Virgilio nació en el año 70 a.C. en Andes, cerca de Mantua y murió en Brindisi el 19 a.C. Realizó sus primeros estudios en Cremona, traslándose después a Milán y Roma, ciudad ésta donde estudió retórica con Epidio; en Nápoles estuvo en la escuela de Filosofía de Sirón. Su poesía se inicia con las Bucólicas, obra escrita entre el 42 y el 39 y constituida por diez églogas de tema pastoril; en ella la vida rural aparece idealizada, como si sus habitantes fueran citadinos refugiados en la naturaleza. Las Geórgicas, comenzadas el año 37 a.C., están integradas por cuatro libros sobre: el cultivo de los campos y las plantas, la crianza de animales domésticos, y la apicultura. La Eneida, obra maestra de Virgilio, fue compuesta a partir del 30 a.C.; poema épico nacional, está integrado por doce libros, a lo largo de los cuales narra la vida errante de Eneas y su lucha para conquistar la ciudad que le ha sido prometida por el Hado. | |
